The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology at Index Institute of Dental Sciences, Malwanchal University, Indore, commemorated World Radiology Day by organizing a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programme and hands-on workshop titled “CBCT – The Third Eye of Dentistry” on 10 November 2025. The event marked the historic discovery of X-rays by Dr. Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen on 8 November 1895, a breakthrough that revolutionized medical and dental diagnostics. The programme aimed to enhance awareness among students and professionals about the rapid advancements in dental imaging and the growing significance of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in modern clinical practice.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dean Dr. Rosaiah Kanaparthy and Dr. Deepti Singh Hada, Professor, Assistant Dean, and Head of the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, along with the dedicated efforts of the departmental team comprising Dr. Neha Hissariya, Dr. Shubhi Maheshwari, Dr. Nidhi Jaiswal, and Dr. Shweta Sharma. The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony, followed by an informative academic session that highlighted the role of advanced radiographic technologies in accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient care.
The keynote lecture and practical hands-on workshop were delivered by Dr. Isha Sabhlok, Consultant Maxillofacial Radiologist from Pune, who provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of CBCT technology and its applications in dentistry. The interactive session included live demonstrations and practical training on 3D CBCT software, enabling participants to gain valuable experience in image acquisition, interpretation, and clinical application. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate students, interns, postgraduate scholars, and faculty members, making it a highly successful academic event. By promoting knowledge of cutting-edge imaging techniques, the Department reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and the continuous advancement of dental education and patient-centered healthcare.
