The Department of Prosthodontics at Index Institute of Dental Sciences proudly celebrated Prosthodontist Day on 22nd January 2026, recognizing the invaluable contribution of prosthodontists in restoring oral function, aesthetics, and facial harmony through comprehensive rehabilitation of teeth and supporting structures. Inspired by the pioneering work of Pierre Fauchard, the father of modern dentistry, the specialty has evolved into a unique blend of scientific precision and artistic excellence. The celebration reflected the institute’s commitment to advancing patient care, innovation, and academic excellence while honoring the role of prosthodontists in transforming lives through restorative dentistry.
The three-day celebration featured a series of meaningful clinical and academic activities. One of the major highlights was the Single-Day Denture Drive, where eligible patients received complete denture fabrication and insertion on the same day, significantly improving accessibility to prosthetic care. Alongside treatment, patients were educated on denture maintenance, oral hygiene practices, and the importance of regular follow-up visits, ensuring long-term oral health and successful rehabilitation. The initiative demonstrated the department’s dedication to community service and patient-centered healthcare while providing valuable clinical exposure to students under expert supervision.
Adding an academic dimension to the celebration, a collaborative webinar was organized in association with Darshan Dental College and Hospital, Dr. Hedgewar Smruti RSM Dental College and Hospital, and Rajasthan Dental College and Hospital. The webinar was delivered by Dr. Meenakshi Khandelwal, who shared insightful perspectives on achieving functional harmony in complete dentures and contemporary prosthodontic practices. The interactive session encouraged knowledge exchange among faculty members, postgraduate students, and dental professionals from participating institutions.
