The Department of Periodontology at Index Institute of Dental Sciences, Indore, celebrated National Periodontists Day 2026 with great enthusiasm through a three-day academic and cultural event, “Perio-Omniscient 2.0.” The programme was designed to raise awareness about periodontal health and its significant role in maintaining overall systemic well-being. By emphasizing the close relationship between oral health and general health, the event encouraged students, professionals, and the community to recognize the importance of preventive periodontal care. The celebration reflected the institute’s commitment to promoting excellence in dental education, research, and public health awareness through innovative and engaging activities.
A major highlight of the event was the National-Level Online Quiz Competition, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from 14 dental colleges across India. The competition provided a dynamic platform for undergraduate and postgraduate students to showcase their knowledge and understanding of periodontology while fostering healthy academic interaction among institutions. Alongside the academic events, a variety of creative competitions, including Rangoli, Soap Carving, Clay Art, and Wall Painting, were organized to encourage artistic expression and teamwork among students. These activities blended creativity with scientific awareness, making the celebration both educational and inspiring.
The programme also featured a multidisciplinary panel discussion, where experts from various dental specialties discussed the indispensable role of periodontists in comprehensive oral healthcare and their contribution to the prevention and management of systemic diseases associated with periodontal conditions. The interactive session promoted collaborative learning and highlighted the importance of an integrated approach to patient care. “Perio-Omniscient 2.0” concluded on a highly successful note, strengthening professional unity, encouraging academic excellence, nurturing creativity, and reinforcing awareness about periodontal health among students and faculty members.
