The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Index Institute of Dental Sciences, Malwanchal University, successfully organized a two-day awareness programme under the Government of Madhya Pradesh’s “Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori” campaign to spread awareness about the ill effects of substance abuse and encourage a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle among students. The initiative reflected the institute’s commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and social responsibility beyond academic learning. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who actively engaged in a series of creative activities designed to educate, inspire, and motivate young minds to stay away from addictive substances. Through awareness-driven initiatives, the department emphasized the importance of informed decision-making, self-discipline, and collective responsibility in building a healthier society.
On the first day of the programme, students showcased their creativity and understanding of the issue by participating in poster-making, slogan-writing, and reel-making competitions centered on the theme of drug abuse prevention. The competitions served as an effective platform for participants to express powerful messages against substance addiction while highlighting the significance of leading a healthy and responsible life. The creative entries reflected the students’ awareness, innovation, and commitment to supporting the campaign’s objective. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where outstanding performances were recognized and appreciated, encouraging students to continue contributing towards social awareness through meaningful initiatives.
The second day featured an enlightening expert lecture by Dr. Ram Ghulam Razdan and Dr. Garv Jani from the Department of Psychiatry, who shared valuable insights into the psychological, physical, and social consequences of substance abuse. The speakers emphasized the importance of early intervention, mental health awareness, family support, and community participation in preventing addiction among youth. They also encouraged students to become ambassadors of positive change by spreading awareness within their communities and helping those in need of guidance and support. The programme concluded with a collective pledge, where faculty members and students reaffirmed their commitment to promoting a drug-free society and supporting the vision of a healthier and addiction-free India. The successful organization of this awareness campaign once again demonstrated Index Institute of Dental Sciences’ dedication to community outreach, preventive healthcare, and nurturing socially responsible healthcare professionals.
