Oral Medicine and Radiology

The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology in Index institute of dental sciences serves as a pivotal hub for the diagnosis, management, and research related to oral and maxillofacial disorders.
This is the first department of institute, were the patients are examined thoroughly and record their history. According to the requirement and need the patients are then referred to the needful departments for treatments.
Oral Diagnosis
In the department, patients with a wide range of conditions, such as oral mucosal diseases, premalignant lesions and conditions, temporomandibular disorders (TMD), orofacial pain syndromes, and oral manifestations of systemic diseases, receive specialized diagnostic evaluations.
Oral Radiology
Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment including dental radiography, Digital OPG, skull radiography, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), specialists accurately diagnose conditions affecting the oral cavity and surrounding structures.
Oral medicine and Therapeutics
Treatment within the department emphasizes non-surgical approaches, including pharmacological therapies tailored to individual patient needs. We are equipped with devices like TENS to manage orofacial pain. We are also equipped with soft tissue LASER for various therapeutic purposes.
Research and academic activities
The department is also actively engaged in research aimed at advancing the field of oral medicine and maxillofacial radiology. Research efforts focus on improving diagnostic techniques, exploring new treatment modalities, and contributing to the understanding of oral and maxillofacial diseases.
The Department also consists of a seminar room with audio-visual facilities for teaching the students
