The Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry at Index Institute of Dental Sciences, Indore, celebrated Pedodontist Day on 3rd December with great enthusiasm, aiming to promote awareness about child oral healthcare and create positive dental experiences for young patients. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Navneet Agrawal (Head of the Department) and Dr. Neha Bhadoria (Professor), with the dedicated support of Dr. Aiman Haider and the entire departmental team. The celebration was further enriched by the inspiring address of Dean Dr. Rosaiah Kanaparthy, who highlighted the significance of early oral health education and encouraged students and faculty to contribute actively towards improving children’s dental well-being. The department was beautifully decorated with colourful balloons and creative displays, creating a cheerful and welcoming environment for children.
The event witnessed the active participation of faculty members, postgraduate students, interns, and young visitors, who enthusiastically engaged in a variety of educational and recreational activities. Interactive sessions including drawing and colouring competitions, oral health games, quizzes, and fun learning activities were organised to educate children about dental care in an enjoyable manner. A comprehensive clinical examination was conducted for all participating children, with 60 children receiving oral health screening by the department. Oral hygiene kits and dental goodies were distributed to encourage healthy oral care habits and reinforce the importance of preventive dentistry.
The programme also focused on educating children and their parents about proper brushing techniques, balanced dietary habits, and effective methods for preventing dental caries through engaging demonstrations and interactive discussions. The celebration concluded with the distribution of gifts, certificates, badges, and nutritious snacks, leaving the children with joyful memories and a positive perception of dental visits. The successful observance of Pedodontist Day reflected the department’s unwavering commitment to community outreach, preventive oral healthcare, and nurturing healthy smiles among children, while strengthening the institute’s mission of promoting excellence in pediatric dental education and service.
