Awareness is the Most Effective Way to Overcome Tobacco Addiction

June 8, 2026by admin0

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, Index Institute of Dental Sciences, Malwanchal University, organized a month-long awareness campaign with the objective of promoting a tobacco-free society. The initiative aimed to educate the public about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption, including oral cancer, systemic diseases, and other life-threatening health conditions. Throughout the campaign, the institute conducted a series of activities such as oral health education sessions, free screening camps, awareness rallies, street plays, and a reel-making competition to encourage community participation. Patients, students, and members of the public were sensitized daily about the importance of quitting tobacco and adopting healthier lifestyles through interactive awareness programs and preventive health initiatives.

As part of the campaign, renowned experts delivered informative lectures highlighting the medical and psychological aspects of tobacco addiction. Dr. Ram Ghulam Razdan spoke on the topic “Medical and Psychological Management of Tobacco Addiction,” emphasizing that tobacco dependence is not merely a physical habit but also a psychological condition that requires a comprehensive approach involving medication, counseling, and behavioral support. Dr. Sudershna Prince addressed the audience on “Nicotine and the Psychology Behind Its Addiction,” explaining the growing risks associated with e-cigarettes, vaping, and other nicotine-based products. She urged young people to stay away from such harmful substances, noting that while nicotine may provide temporary satisfaction, its long-term consequences can be devastating for overall health.

The campaign was conducted under the visionary leadership of Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman, Mayank Welfare Foundation, and Mr. Mayankraj Singh Bhadoria, Vice Chairman, Mayank Welfare Foundation, whose continued commitment to healthcare and community welfare inspires such impactful initiatives. The program was organized under the guidance of Dean Dr. Rosayya Kanaparthy and Assistant Dean Dr. Deepti Singh Hada, with coordination by Dr. Neha Hisaria, Dr. Chirag Vyas, Dr. Shubhi Maheshwari, and Dr. Kaunteya Kamad. Faculty members, heads of departments, and students actively participated in the campaign, reaffirming their commitment to building a tobacco-free future. Through this month-long initiative, Index Institute of Dental Sciences reinforced its dedication to preventive healthcare, public awareness, and social responsibility by empowering individuals to make informed choices and embrace a healthier, tobacco-free lifestyle.
