The Index Institute of Dental Sciences, Malwanchal University, observed Anti-Ragging Week with a special awareness seminar aimed at educating students about the dangers of ragging and its legal implications. The event was held under the guidance of Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman, Index Group of Institutions, whose vision is to foster a safe, respectful, and supportive academic environment. Addressing the gathering, Dean Dr. Rolly S Agrawal emphasized that ragging is not only a punishable criminal offense but also deeply violates human values. She highlighted that such behavior not only causes mental distress to victims but can also irreparably damage their academic and professional futures.
The seminar featured insightful addresses by Dr. Bhupendra Singh Rajput, Chairperson of the Anti-Ragging Committee, who explained the strict measures in place against offenders, including expulsion and legal proceedings. He encouraged students to utilize the helpline numbers and email complaint system established by the University and the UGC for immediate support in case of any incident. The event also included interactive sessions led by Dr. Suparna Ganguly and Dr. Rajeev Srivastava, who discussed the definition, types, and psychological impact of ragging, along with the preventive laws under UGC regulations. Competitions such as digital poster design, reels, short videos, and slogan writing on the theme “No Ragging” were organized to creatively engage students in spreading the message. Winners were felicitated with prizes, making the event both educational and participatory.
The program concluded with all students taking a solemn Anti-Ragging Oath, pledging to uphold a culture of safety, respect, and camaraderie within the campus. This initiative reflected the commitment of the Index Institute of Dental Sciences, under the leadership of Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, to ensure that the institution remains free from any form of ragging. The active participation of students, faculty members, and university officials reinforced the importance of maintaining a positive learning environment where every student can grow without fear or intimidation. Through such awareness programs, the Institute continues to strengthen its mission of delivering not only academic excellence but also fostering values of empathy, mutual respect, and responsible citizenship.
