The Index Institute of Dental Sciences, part of Malwanchal University, recently hosted a specialized seminar on Forensic Odontology, featuring expert speaker Dr. Swati Sudhapalli. Dr. Sudhapalli highlighted the significance of this sub-specialty, which encompasses the examination and analysis of dental records to identify individuals, determine ages based on dental injuries, and even link bite marks to criminal cases. She emphasized that dental imprints can be pivotal in solving crimes, showcasing techniques such as dental identification, bite mark analysis, forensic photography, and expert testimony. Dr. Sudhapalli called for increased youth participation in research, urging that today’s educational landscape must embrace continuous learning and skill enhancement to meet the evolving needs of India.
