In alignment with the vision of integrating education, culture, and sustainability, the Index Institute of Dental Sciences (IIDS), Malwanchal University, organized a workshop on eco-friendly Ganesh idol making. The initiative, held under the guidance of Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman, Index Group of Institutions, and Vice Chairman Mr. Mayank Raj Singh Bhadoria, was designed to promote environmental conservation while preserving the essence of Sanatan traditions. Students from Dental, MBBS, and Paramedical streams actively participated, creating Ganesh idols from natural clay. The workshop commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana, marking the beginning of a program that combined creativity, tradition, and social responsibility.
The session was conducted by Ms. Jaya Shetty, who guided the students through the process of sculpting clay idols. She highlighted the cultural relevance of the practice and emphasized the environmental benefits of using clay over Plaster of Paris, which is known to harm aquatic ecosystems. By engaging in this hands-on learning activity, students not only enhanced their artistic skills but also developed an understanding of how traditional practices can be adapted in an environmentally conscious manner. The initiative reflected the institute’s commitment to holistic education—where professional training is complemented by value-based learning experiences. This vision is consistently encouraged by the leadership of Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria and Mr. Mayank Raj Singh Bhadoria, who emphasize cultural preservation along with academic excellence.
The workshop concluded with a display of the idols created by the students, followed by recognition of the most skillfully crafted models. Faculty members appreciated the creativity, effort, and enthusiasm demonstrated by the participants. More than an academic activity, the event served as an educational experience that encouraged students to adopt sustainable practices and to value the harmony between culture and environmental stewardship. The eco-friendly Ganesh idol-making workshop at IIDS, envisioned and supported by Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman, and Mr. Mayank Raj Singh Bhadoria, Vice Chairman, stands as a testament to how higher education can foster awareness, responsibility, and innovation while remaining rooted in tradition.
